R&D Facility: AAP St Mary's
Located in St.Marys, Ohio, this facility is a leading manufacturer of low pressure permanent mold aluminum wheels for a variety of original equipment manufacturers (both domestic and transplants).
Established in 1988, AAP annually ships 1.2 million wheels for both passenger car and light truck usage.
To optimize wheel design/weight for our customers, AAP utilizes Computer Aided Engineering/Computer Aided Design (CAE/CAD) for rapid drawing development, "MACDA" (Model Aided Casting Design Analysis) - a stress analysis technique using special urethane models, as well as Finite Element Analysis.
Once the design is established, AAP then optimizes the casting cycle (metal flow and temperature controls) using Hitachi's own " SCAST" (metal flow and solidification) software program.
These techiques provide both a weight and cost effective produced wheel.
Styling face treatments can be either fully painted, machined/clearcoated, or chrome plated.
AAP St. Marys recent quality awards include:
- QS-9000 and ISO-9001 certification
- Nissan Quality Achievement Award ( one of top five suppliers)
- Nissan Zero Defect Award
- Nissan Quality Master Award
AAP is in the process of expanding its product content and will soon be producing low pressure cast aluminum suspension components.
